Research shows providing students with clear goals and objectives helps them improve learning outcomes. Engaged teachers recognize the importance of designing courses that best equip students for success. Effective course design begins with determining learning goals. Identifying learning goals and objectives provides a clear way for students to understand priorities and invites them to assume more responsibility for their learning and can increase motivation which in turn can enhance the level of effort students are willing to invest in their learning.
