In this session, we will provide GTAs with foundational context for understanding the legal, regulatory and structural frameworks that shape teaching in U.S. higher education. While many policies (e.g., FERPA, ADA) are introduced in pre-arrival online training, this session will deepen the understanding of policies that influence U.S. academic culture and classroom practice. The session will address common knowledge gaps identified among first-time international GTAs and clarify how institutional, legal and cultural expectations intersect in daily teaching decisions.
